Last weekend fans from all over the world tuned into the four-day virtual Defqon.1 at Home experience from the safety and comfort of their homes. Virtual guests from 115 countries got to enjoy shows from over 100 artists performing their sets on the astonishing stages, recorded at the Defqon.1 festival ground in Biddinghuizen. |
The state-of-the-art production featuring a goosebump-inducing fireworks display for the Closing Ceremony, wide-ranging shots from 5 drones piloted by the world’s best racing drone driver, and an innovative stage design that’s been in the works for 7 months. World class artists such as Villain, Adaro, Ran-D and Frequencerz just to name a few recorded their insane sets, resulting in a total of 72 hours of footage for the event. One of the highlights of the weekend was undoubtedly the showing of POWER HOUR ‘The Movie’, which embodies the madness and energy POWER HOUR is widely known for. |
“For us, Power Hour is a vehicle that gives us the freedom to experiment with numerous styles of music and a large variety of themes and storylines. With the lack of this year’s physical event, we felt the responsibility to deliver a brand new mix, stuffed with loads of original tracks that formed the basis for the movie. We pulled through 30 insane shooting days, shed some tears and laughed harder, but above all, had the time of our lives working on what is one of the most insane projects we’ve done so far. It gives us an absolute feeling of pride and joy to see the response of the fans we’ve missed so much the last year, and we can not wait to return with Power Hour at Defqon.1 2022”, says Rogier Werver, Creative Director at Q-dance |
Defqon.1 at Home was the first event available on the newly launched Q-dance Network app, which aims to bridge the gap between virtual festivals and physical events. The app offers fans from all over the world the opportunity to experience all Q-dance events and experiences virtually, anywhere in the world. During the event, Q-dance planned interactive moments within the app, such as The Endshow, Warrior Workout, and a huge Closing Ceremony. Besides an archive filled with all of the amazing content Q-dance has created in the past 21 years, the Q-dance Network app offers unique on-demand content formats such as a monthly talk show with MC Villain, a star-studded interview series highlighting the careers of the biggest names in hardstyle, and a mouth-watering cooking show brought to you by the prodigy Sefa. |
“Apart from the fact that we have successfully established Defqon.1 as an online event for the second year in a row and reached loads of fans from all over the world, we have taken a big step with the Q-dance Network and DEDIQATED Membership. After 20 years of organizing events and festivals, so many fans have shown their trust in us by signing up for a DEDIQATED Membership. We are excited for what the future has in store and we look forward to building a new relationship with them in the coming year with great content on our own platform”, says Sander Bijlstra, Managing Director of Q-dance |
After the incredible reaction from fans and DJs alike, Defqon.1 have once again cemented itself as the best hardstyle festival worldwide with the mesmerizing edition of their second Defqon.1 at Home event. The physical edition of Defqon.1 is scheduled from June 23 to June 26, 2022 and will return stronger than ever, jumping to a four day format for the first time. Tickets are available here.
